VISIT TO ROTORUA. By Telegraph—Press Association. ROTORUA, April 28. The Governor-General, Lady Bledisloe, and party, arrived at Rotorua, and were received by the Mayor, Councillors and Mr V. Ward and Mr Jeflrey (on behalf of Sir Joseph Ward)! At a civic reception, the Mayor (Mr Jackson) welcomed their Excellencies. In reply, Lord Bledisloe referred to the loyalty of the Arawas. He alluded to Rotorua as the most celebrated Spa in the Southern Hemisphere, and enumerated its attractions —scenery, climate, sports and therapeutic qualities of the waters. He spoke of land experiments in the district, and of afforestation. It was a day of slogans, he said, and he gave his hearers: “Preserve from deterioration and contamination your beautiful countryside on the one’ hand, and the youth of the country on the other. The former was the latter’s grandest heritage. His Excellency advocated stressed commercial integrity, and concluding, said he was pleased to be GovernorGeneral of New Zealand, and would be still prouder if he could lend a useful hand in helping to stabilise rural prosperity, *nd through it the prosperity of all classes in town and country. His Excellency afterwards visited the Prime Minister.
