“It may not be generally known among motorists that if a car's brakes are put on suddenly, and then the accelerator is used, the car can be skidded in any direction the steering wheel is turned,” said a witness in a dangerous driving case in the Wellington Police Court. He stated that he adopted this method of avoiding running over a woman who was knocked down by his car; it was a valuable precautionary measure in such emergencies. He said nothing about the risk of a capsize.
