MART REPORTS.
THE RIALTO. R. Allchurch and Co. report for the week ended April sth. At our weekly sale on Friday, 50 pens of poultry were entered, while 25 pigs of various grades were yarded. Good table poultry is realising fair prices, but the pig market is quieter, owing, no doubt to feed being scarcer through the continued dry weather. Eggs are now getting scarce, and the demand is exceptionally keen All varieties oi fruit are arriving in more moderate supplies, and tomatoes are very nearly over. Peaches are also practically finished, very few now coming to hand. Prices realised were as follows: — Poultry.—Hens, heavy 3s 6d to 6d, others 2s 3d to 3s; cockerels, heavy 4 3d to 6s, others 2s to 3s; roosters 3s to 3s 6d; ducks, heavy 5s 9d to 6s 9d, others 4s 9d to 5s 6d pair,geese 3s 3d each. Pigs.—Weaners 13s 6d, 15s 6d, 16s. 17s and 18s each. Produce.—Potatoes 8s 6d to 10s 6d sack; Canterbury onions 5s cental, 2s box; cabbage Is 6d to 2s 3d dozen; French beans l£d lb.; green peas g£d lb.; carrots 2s kit; parsnips 2s 6d to 4s kit. Fruit. Tomatoes 3£d to 4£d lb.; peaches 2d to 3|d lb; plums l£d lb; apples, dessert 6s to 10s case, 2s to 3s half-case; cookers 4s 6d to 7s case, 2s to 2s 6d half case; pears (winter cole) 3s 6d half-case; other varieties Is 6d to 2s 6d half-case; quinces 6s 6d cas« Eggs.—Very moderate supplies of eggs are coming to hand, and are meeting with a ready market, supplies being unsufficient to meet the demand. The price for the present is Is 9d dozen. The market has a rising tendency. Clearing sale.—On Friday we held a clearing sale of oak furniture, typewriter, etc., when a total clearance was effected at satisfacfory prices. At the same time we offered a 5-seater “Chrysler” car which was passed in at £BO. Furniture and Effects.—On Friday we disposed of a fair quantity of furniture and effects at satisfactory prices.
