MART REPORTS.

“ THE RIALTO." H. Allchurch and Co. report for the week ended March 22nd:— j At our sale on Friday we had a good ' entry of poultry and pigs, and fairprices were maintained throughout. Fair supplies of Central Otago fruit came to hand, most of which was freestone peaches and nectarines. Plums are now practically over, supplies of these lines being very moderate. Tomatoes are also coming to hand very slowly, although they have been more plentiful during the past few days. Dessert apples are not yet very plentiful, and good prices have been ruling for popular varieties. Cauliflower and cabbage are in large quantities, and these and other vegetables are selling at market rates. Prices realised were as follows: — Poultry—Hens, heavy 3 - to 4/-, others 2/- to 2/6; cockerels, heavy 5/- to 6/6, others 3. 3 to 4 roosters, 3-- to 3/6; ducks 4/9 to 5/9, all at per pair: chicks 6d to 9d each. A line of pullets realised 7/6 to 9 3 per pair. Pigs—Weaners 17/-, 17/6 to 20/-; inferior weaners 14/6 each; slips 24/6 each. Produce—Wheat 14/- to 20/-; potatoes 10/- to 12/- sack; Canterbury onions 5/6 cental, 2/- box; cabbage 1/- to 2/- dozen; cauliflowers 1/6 to 4/dozen; French beans lid to 2d lb; green peas 2d to 2id lb; potatoes, 3/to 3/6 kit; swedes 1/6 to 2/- kit; carrots 2/6 to 3/- kit. Fruit—Tomatoes 3id to sid lb, inferior lines 2ld to 3d lb; peaches 2id to 4d lb; plums lid to 2id lb; nectarines 2id to 3id lb; dessert apples 7/- to 10/- case, cooking apples 4 - to 5/6 case, 2/- to 2/6 half-case; pears 7/6 to 3/- half-case; blackberries 6d lb. Eggs—Heavy supplies of South Canterbury circle eggs are now coming to hand, and the demand is easier, consequently prices have dropped. The market now stands at 1/6 dozen. Furniture and effects —On Friday we disposed of a fair quantity of furniture and effects at satisfactory prices. Property department—Business in this department remains steady.
