CASUALTIES,
FATALLY INJURED BY CAR. By Telegraph—Press Asso.'^tlon. WELLINGTON, March 5. A middle-aged man, Francis John Munson, was down by a motor-car in Featherston Street at about 5.30 p.m. yesterday. He sustained injuries to his head, but his condition was not thought to be serious. Later in the evening, however, the City Amublance received a call to the Pier Hotel, where Munson stayed, and he was taken to the hospital, where he died this morning. MAORI WOMAN MISSING. By Telegrach- Press Association. ROTORUA, March 5. An aged Maori woman named Pipitane Wiki Tara was missing from her home at Whaka on Sunday, and it was suspected she had fallen into a hot hole adjacent to a bridge over the Puarenga stream. Search continued all to-day without result. A recent fire burned away the protecting fence, and thq Maoris are fairly confident that the woman is in the pool.
. RAILWAYMAN KILLED. By Telezranh—Pres*j Xasoclatlon. TAUMARUNUI. March 5. J. Blackler, single, an inspector of permanent ways for the Railway Department, was travelling from Taumarunui to Te Kuiti this afternoon on a motor jigger, when he met a ballast train between Okahukura and Taringamutu. Blackler was killed almost instantaneously, and was badly cut about. Deceased resides at Te Kuiti, and has relatives in Australia.
