VESSEL STRANDED.
SERIOUS ALLEGATIONS AGAINST MASTER. (United Press Association—By Electric Telesrs-A'—- coav right.) (Received February 24 10.0 p.m.)' SYDNEY February 24. Charges of insobriety against Malcolm McDonald, master of the steamer Luciston, were made at the Commonwealth Court inquiry, which is investigating the stranding of that vessel at Ocean Island on December 27. The vessel recently reached Sydney, and repairs are likely to cost £3OOO. Matthew Anderson, first officer, in his evidence, said that when the Luciston struck the reef the master was on the bridge intoxicated. The cause of the accident was putting the helm the wrong way. Witness denied a vendetta against McDonald with the ultimate object of getting command of the vessel himself.
