MART REPORTS.

“THE RIALTO,” H. Allchurch and Co. report for the week ended February 15:— At our weekly sale on Friday we had a good entry of poultry and pigs. The market for pigs is very firm, and the demand is very keen, especially for good weaners, which appear to be in rather short supply all round. Consignments of Central Otago fruit are coming forward daily, although supplies have been more moderate during the past few days . The first crop of peaches is now practically over. Apricots also are very nearly finished, and good prices for these lines are being maintained. Greengages and various other varieties of plums are now in full swing, and there is every indication of the season being a short one. Vegetables are coming to hand regularly, and are being disposed of readily. Prices realised were as follow: Poultry:—Hens, heavy 3/9 to 4/9, others 2/9 to 3/3; cockerels, heavy 4/to 5/9, others 2/- to 3/-; roosters 2/3 1 to 3/-, others 4/- to 6 6; ducks, heavy 5/- to 6/-, others 4/3 to 4/9 pair; i chicks 4d to 7d each; hen and ducklings 4/3. Pigs:—Weaners 19/6 to 26/6 each. Produce: —Wheat 12'6 to 18/-; onions (new season, Canterbury) 7/6 to 9/- cental; carrots 1/- to 1/6 dozen bundles; onions 1/6 to 2/- dozen bundles, cauliflower 1/- to 3/3 dozen; cabbage 1/6 to 3/- dozen; French and runner beans 2d to 3d lb; green peas 2£d to 3d; rhubarb 4/6 to 6/- dozen bundles; marrows 3/- to 6/- dozen, potatoes 3/- to 7/- kit. Fruit:—Peaches 2£d to 4id lb; apricots 2*d to 4id lb; tomatoes (Christchurch and local) 3d to 6ld lb; Napier 3/- to 3/6 box of 12 lbs; nectarines . 2!d to 3£d lb; greengages 22d to 3d; cooking apples 4. / 6 to 7/- case; dessert 1 2d to 3d lb; raspberries 8d lb. , Eggs:—Fair supplies of eggs are i coming to hand, and the demand is i very keen, consequently supplies are , being readily cleared at 1/7 dozen, i The market has a rising tendency..
