FATE OF SWINDLER.
ACCOMPLICE IMPRISONED. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received December 5, 8.45 p.m.) 1 VERSAILLES, December 4. ‘ The sinister coffin, with a drain pipe attachment, in which the bogus Marquis Champaubert was buried, was produced in Court at the trial of the accomplice, Henri Boulogne, who was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment, and an associate, Felix Bachelot, was fined one hundred francs.
[A cable message received on October 6, stated: “Receiving an anonymous letter, with a diagram, stating that the Marquis of Champaubert was buried alive at Verneuil-sur-Seine, the police hastened to the cemetery and found at the spot indicated, a little tube sticking up from freshly disturbed earth. Digging revealed a coffin, containing the body of a man. The tube was sufficient to enable him to breathe. Hence it was believed that death was due to starvation.”}
