HOCKEY. The following will represent the Geraldine Ladies’ Hockey Club in the five-a-side tournament to be held in Geraldine on Thursday:— Seniors:—R. Austin, M. Blissett, N. Henderson, M. Henderson, M. Vincent, C. Rule. Juniors:—E. Austin, O. Bell, D. Johnson, R. Hendry, M. Stevens, F. Vial. The following will represent School in the tournament: — Senior:—Webb, Brooke, Morrison, Bethune. Bowkett (navy jerseys). Junior: —Watson, Buckley, Merrin, Pierce. S. Callanan (navy jerseys). Third Grade:—T. Wood. G. Cowie, M. Hayes, R. Hayes, J. Lockhart (f*ey shirts). FELICITATIONS. Members of the Ladies’ Presbyterian Association recently entertained Miss M. Somerville, of Geraldine, at a kitchen evening, in view of her approaching marriage. Mrs R. S. Rodman, who presided, after referring to the valuable work done by the guest in connection with the church and choir, wished her every happiness in the future. Mr Maxwell replied on behalf of Miss Somerville, and his remarks were followed by the singing of “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow.” During the evening, games and competitions were held, and musical items were given by the Misses B. and E. Sherratt, and a dainty supper waa served. / NOTES. The Geraldine Fire Brigade have booked October 3 for their ball. The Committee of the Geraldine County River Board dealt with the following tenders for driving 15 poles for Morrison’s garage on the Waihi river frontage at Geraldine, and recommended that the lowest tender should be accepted:—W. Eathorne £80; F. H. Demus £lO4/1/3. Playing recently on Mr J. Gimson’s course, Geraldine, Mr W. Webb, of the Geraldine Golf Club, holed his tee shot at “Shorty” (92 yards). The fine weather which has replaced the inclement conditions of last week, give severy promise of continuing for some time. Approaching Geraldine by the main road from the south, a glorious panorama is presented by the snow-clad peaks and ranges, as they glisten in the sunshine. The beauty of the scene is enhanced by the verdant background provided by the forest-covered hills to the north of the township. PERSONAL. Mr and Mrs G. Brown and son. of Dunedin, are the guests of Mrs Andrew Brown, “Sunnyvale,” Geraldine Mr and Mrs Breen, of Willow Farm, the Levels, who have been staying with Mrs J. Angland, Geraldine, have returned home. Mrs H. V. Gillum, of Temuka, is spending a holiday in Geraldine. Miss F. Johnson. Geraldine, has gone on a visit to Ashburton. Mrs J.
