THE WEATHER.

Dominion Meteorologist. A cyclone has just crossed the South Island, and a secondary is advancing : across the southern Tasman Sea. Winds variable south of Greymouth and Kaikoura, elsewhere moderate to strong northerlies freshening at times. Rather rough seas north of Greymouth and Kaikoura, elsewhere smooth to moderate. Northerly winds prevailing in the Tasman Sea, strong to gale in the central and northern portion, and light to moderate and variable in the southern portion with generally moderate seas. Weather still unsettled with mist or fog in many places. Main rain in most districts, heavy in places. Temperature still mild from Canterbury northwards.
