ST. ANDREW'S
ACCIDENT. A painful accident befel Mrs Kennard, St. Andrews, recently. When she was sewing, the needle slipped into the palm of her hand, breaking in three pieces. Mrs Kennard suffered great pain, and had to go to the hospital to have the pieces removed. HARVESTING OPERATIONS. Harvesting operations are in full swing in this district, the continuous fin© weather enabling farmers to harvest their crops without hindrance. The wheat yield has been of a good average this year, but the root cron*, pastures and gardens are suffering from the long, dry spell. Ajthou h th© harvesters may not appreciate a shower at this juncture, those interested in dairying or vegetable production would welcome a good day’s rain. PERSONAL. Mr and Mrs C. H. S. Johnstone have returned from a short visit to Christchurch. Mr and Mrs R. Gray have returned from Mosgiel. Mr A. McGregor, Pareora, has returned from the north. Miss B. Thompson. Hanmer, is visiting her parents at Spnngbrook. Mrs R.. B. Williams is spending a holiday in Feilding. Mrs E. McDonald is spending a few weeks with her daughter at Invercargill. Mr and Mrs W. J.
