WELLINGTON LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, Oct. 18. In the Wellington ladies’ provincial championship final to-day, Miss C. D. Chrystall (Christchurch), present New Zealand champion, heat Miss Petrie (Wellington), 2 up. Miss Petrie led in the early stages, but Miss Chrystall turned 1 up. The hples from the tenth to the seventeenth, both inclusive, wore halved, and Miss Chrystall won the eighteenth and the match. THE CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. PLAY IN HEAVY RAIN. Tt. was fortunate that a light programme in connection with the New Zealand Golf championship, was arranged for to-day, for there has been incessant rain ail day. In a play-off of a tie on the first bogey handicap, D. C. Jolly beat K. W. Robinson. Thirty players faced the rain for the second bogey handicap this morning, and this was won by J. W. Tic worn, cf the Otago Club. In the afternoon, 20 players competed for a stroke handicap, which resulted in a tie between J. R.. Laidlaw and J. C. Shnnd, with net scores of 76. A driving, competition scheduled for to-day' was postponed till to-morrow. In a play-off for the first stroke handicap between J. W. Trewern and F. I. Dawson, the former won, with a net score of 90. It has not ceased raining all day, and in consequence, the course is wet and sodden. There is water in many of the greens, and unless there is a. cessation of rain to-night, the course will ho almost unplayable to-morrow, and when play is resumed under altered conditions, it may' upset calculations.
