Mr Tudehope, for the Marine Cooks’ Union, asked Judge Dethridge whether lie thought the ‘suspension of the award would lead to a settlement of the dispute, or whether there was no better way out, Mr Justice Dethridge: There’s only one other way—that is for your men to man the ships. You can then come forward for the redress of your grievances in the orderly way. Mr Tudehope: Then I suggest that the award should be cancelled only as regards the Huddart, Parker Coy., as the other companies are -unaffected. Mr Justice Dethridge: You cannot indulge in direct action against on* respondent and at the same time continue to hold the benefits of the award. Mr Menzies, for Huddart,' Parkers: We could commission several ships by Monday, if the Union is ready to resume. Mr Justice Dethridge then announced the decision of the Court.
