Wanted For Washington Cathedral. NATION-WIDE CAMPAIGN. By Cable—Prsss Association — Copyright. Australian and N.Z. GaM* Association. WASHINGTON, October 9. A nation-wide campaign is announced here in an effort to raise 30,000,000 dollars for the completion of the Washington Cathedral, and the stimulation of religious life of the entire country through the dissemination of Christian teaching. General Pershing is chairman of the, national committee and Mr A. .W. Mellow, Secretary, to the Treasury i» treasurer. Mr George Pepper, Senator from Pennsylvania, who is chairman of the Executive, said the present plan, in spirit, proposed a Government outlay of 100,000,000 dollars for the purpose of re-building and beautifying the capital. This will create an enduring memorial to the national spirit of devotion. It will include a preachers’ college, boys’ and girls’ school’ and a theological library containing 20,000 volumes. The building will afford standing room for 27,000 persons. It will be situated on the highest point in Washington, on the top of Mount St. Alban. .The entire project is planned to centralise and unity religious activities, organised with a national and international viewpoint similar to the American economio administrative agencies.
