MINES REOPENING.
AMERICAN STRIKE ENDS. By Cable —Prosa Association—Copyriebt, Australian end N.Z. Cable Aasociution. NEW YORK, October 5. The coal mines in lowa 'have reopened as a result of the settlement o£ the wage dispute between the operators and miners. About nine thousand miners have returned to work. The settlement was on the basis of the Jacksonville agreement, and means a temporary victory for the miners.
