MART REPORTS.

MORTON AND CO. Morton and Co., Ltd., report for week ended July 2nd: On Friday we held our mart sale; the poultry entry was small, comprising cmly 28 pens, but the quality was good, and fair prices resulted. Prices were as follows : Table birds, cockerels, light os, heavy 8s 6d; hens, light 5s to (Is; pure-bred White Leghorn pullets sold at 12s 6d and 16s pair. W.e offered on behalf of Miss Meyrick, 6 pens of prize-winning Black Orpingtons, comprising a breeding trio and 5 cockerels. The trio failed to roach the reserve. Three cockerels sold at £1 and £1 Is. We sold on behalf of Mr A. J. Bruwn, two pure-bred White Leghorn cockerels at 10s each.

Produce. —There has been a keen demand for all classes of preduce, fowl wheat realising to 24s Gd per sack, oats to 16s 6d, hulled oats from 20s to 255. Stamped eggs 2s 4d to 2s 6d, with keen demand.

Furniture. —A good demand opened out for good-class furniture. A 'Chesterfield suite was sold at £l6 10s, double wooden bed and wire mattiess £3 12s 6d, grease paper 5s i oil, Clide incubator £l 2s 6d, while a largp lisb of sundries was cleared. Meat.—-The meat sale opened vith a good attendance, and a fair quantity of mutton and lamb was cleared, forequarters realising from 2s Gd to 4s, and hinds from 4s to os. Property.—The property market has been weak for some time, although inquiry has brightened somewhat. On Friday wo submitted to auction two properties, one in the estate qf the late F. Slaughter, situated in Waimataitai, and the other, on'account of the mortgagee, situated in Page’s Road. The bidding in both cares failed to reach the reserve, bnt both, properties were sold later. Inquiry continues fey fijrnished houses, and wo have buyers waiting with deposits of £IOO.

Fruit.—Apples were selling freely, and good supplies came forward. Outside supplies of pears are about finished, and consignments are being handled ex cold store. Oranges were more plentiful, and prices were easier; a ready demand was experienced.
