Mr Frank Curzon was a well-known, theatrical manager and racehorse, owner. He was the lessee of the Play-, house and Wyndliam’s and he was concerned with the management of the Royalty. Daring his long career with • the stage, since 1899, he had been asso. elated with such men as F. R. Benson/ Charlefe Hawtrev and Denis Eadie.!, Curzon was his stage name. He was a - son of the lata W. C. Deeley, of Curzon-' Park, Chester, and a brother of Sir H. Mallaby Deelev. M.P. ■ The late Mr Curzon only a month*' ago achieved bis greatest ambition by winning the Derby with Call Boy, andwas reputed to have collected a .huge!-.-, sum as a result of that success. Mr;. Curzon wa?> a man of tireless energy. He firmly believed that >-his theatrical success was largely due ~.to, the fact that he received a sound comr mercial training in his father’s business, before he abandoned commerce for the.life of the theatre. He was an excellent- all-round athlete, his outstanding -performance being 'the winning of the half-mile Dominion championship in 1889. During the year 1888 he represented Wairarapa against Wellington at Rugby football, .and the following year he plaved for Southland against Otago and the Maori fifteen'. Mr Cox entered the employ of the Bank of Australasia when he left College. and rose to the- position of .manager of tho Christchurch branch.
