(From Our Own Correspondent. )] ANZAC DAY. In honour of Anzac Day, an impressive service was field at tho hall, at 10 a.m. There was a largo attendance of residents, presided over by Air J. G. Barry. , Hymns appropriate to the occasion wero sung, and inspiring addresses were delivered by Air G. B. Cartwright (Mayor of Teinuka), and Rev. H. R. Fell,' of Teinuka. A number of beautiful floral tributes were placed around the memorial tablet, and tho service was closed with the sounding of the “Last Post.”BASKETBALL. There was an attendance of fourteen members at the annual meeting of the Cl ancle boy o Young Ladies’ Basketball Club. The balance sheet showed that the club had a credit balance of £2. During the year, friendly games had been played with Teinuka and Geraldine dubs. A and B games hud been played on each occasion, and tho club had met with a good measure of success, particularly in tho later games. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Aliss Nelly Hickey (secretary) for the good work she had clone. Four now members were elected. it was decided no hold the opening clay on April 28th. The following officers were elected : Patron, Air 'IV J). Burnett, ALP.; president, Mrs AAV H. The final meeting in connection Wiltli the Clandeboyo Carnival was held on Iriday evening. Air J- Donehuo presided. ~ , 'Hie oalance sheet snowed that financially the carnival iiad been successful, and that, after meeting all liabilities, a small credit balance remained. Jn seconding tho adoption ot the balance sheet,' Air AV. H. Staniland spoke of flic able manner m which the chairman and the members of tho committee had carried out their dutifcs. it was decided to lodge the lands in hand to tho credit of the committee at the Post Office Savings Bank at Teinuka.

N.Z. FARMERS’ UNION. Tiie annual meeting of the Clandeboye branch of tho Now Zealand Farmers’ Union was held on Friday evening, Mr W. H. Staniland (president ot the branch) being in the chair. ’The secretary (Mr D. J. Pemberton) read tlie annual report and balance sheet. This showed that the branch had been formed a year previously, hugely owing to the organising work jof Air Bruce Gillies. The branch had i been an extremely useful one, both to I members and to the provincial organisation, lor it had been able to speak authoritatively upon matters affecting the dairying industry. Messrs Staniland add Pemberton had represented the branch as delegates to the Provincial Executive. The balance shoot showed a credit balance of £5 13s. On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Air J. Donohue, the report and balance sheet were adopted. Air Staniland then introduced the question of amalgamation with the Tomuka branch of the Union. Such an amalgamation had prqvod successful in other centres, and the question deserved the earnest consideration of members. The matter was discussed at some length, and sound arguments were advanced both for and against the proposal. Eventually, Air G. H. Mulligan proposed that tho Clandeboyc branch amalgamate with the Temuka branch. This was seconded by Air J. C. Bisdee, and carried. The chairman then outlined the scheme arranged by the Farmers’ Union withjdie Railway Department for a farmers’ excursion to Lincoln College. Tho excursion would be held about the second week in June; train to leave from Timaru and return on same day, giving five to six hours at the Collotre. The College authorities were making every effort to make tho visit a profitable one to tho visitors, and were providing luncheon for all. The fare from Temuka would be about 9s return. General approval was expressed, and several banded in their names as being willing 'to make.the trip. Heartv votes of thanlm wore accorded to Air Staniland and Air Pemberton for their services, both to the branch and as delegates to the central executive in Timaru. ,
