COMPETITIONS SOCIETY.
■«> MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. A meeting of tho executive was held in the secretary’s office on J IU P C a evening. Present: —Mr W. H. 1 od°n (in the chair), Messrs Griffiths, Catter, it i. .plies and tho secretary. Tho chairman welcomed delegates from the various clubs in Timaru who had accepted an 'invitation to be picsont to discuss holding an inter-club competition in the elocution section. This was freely discussed, and finally it was decided to 'include this in the syllabus, and those present promised their support. . A new departure this year, m tho instrumental section, will ho a mouthorgan solo—own selection unu it is anticipated that this will,bo very well competed for. The secretary reported that, the social held last week had been a financial success, and it is hoped to hold several more during the winter. The committee this year will have a better hall. The Lyceum has been secured, and with the necessary alterations that the committee intend to make this will provide more accommodation. ~ ~ It wms reported that the syllabus would! probably be ready by the end of tliis month.
