THEFTS FROM SAVINGS BANK. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, March 21. At the Supreme Court, William Ernest Carrington, a postal clerk (26), who iiad admitted five charges of forgery was sentenced to two years’ reformative detention. Accused had manipulated an account of a Post Office Savings Bank depositor, and by means of forged withdrawal slips had obtained £'6oo. Mr Justice MacGregor said the money had been spent; it had not been repaid, nor was it likely to be. Prisoner evidently had some conscience, for after going to Australia lie returned and gave himself up.
