HAREM GIRLS.
NOT DAZZLING BEAUTIES. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. CONSTANTINOPLE, March 20. Kemal-Pasha’s edicts abolishing the veil and introducing dancing dissipated the myth of the liarem girJs as slim, exotic, dazzling beauties. On th© contrary they are outrageously fat, their features lost amid billowing cheeks, and double chins owing to incessant reclining on divans and the excessive eating of delicacies. Keniali has ordered that the orchestra at official dances should specialise in the Charlston, which the fattest guests refused to dance until forced. When the Harem girls learned the benefits of exercise they began various sports, aiming to reduce their figures to the proportion of fashionable European women.
