SHOOTING.

ROUGH DAY AT TRENTHAM. FIRST POSSIBLE AT MEETING

By Telegraph—Press Association. TRENTHAM, March 19. Heavy rain and a blustery northerly prevailed for the greater part of the night, and till 7 o’clock this morning. Then the weather improved, though it was still dull; with 'a promise of more downpours. The first stage of the 300 yards Auckland Match, was completed in pouring rain, which made visibility bad, and promised the early destruction of tho target faces, so that a halt was called till 1 o’clock, when the executive will be guided by the weather conditions. Jfc was raining; nt noon, but showed signs of easing off. CHAMPION TEAMS MATCH. Rain, which caused a cessation of shooting in the Auckland match, continued intermittently till about 2 o’clock, then a rear wind of tho fishtail lankly drove the rain clouds away, but did little to ameliorate conditions tor marksmen, who found elevation and windage very trying. In tlie Champion Teams Match, W. Harris (Christchurch) achieved a small degree of fame by putting on a possible at 500yds.
