(A salary of £15,000 a year, plus commission, .with holidays four times a year, including six weeks in summer, 15 guineas e x P ellses daily for fashionable race meetings, expenses for four visits to Paris yearly for a week, each, and. six gowns a year averaging £25 each, were among the terms on which Pauuins. Limited, the West End dressmakers, engaged the dress designer, Mrs Fox-Pitt, in 1923, but the engagement was cancelled at a moment’s notice in 1925. the directors alleging that she secretly charged five apprentices a premium of £2O, m addition to £3O each which tlip firm charged. Mrs Fox-Pitt asserted that the directors assented to charging the extra £2O for distribution among supervisors to induce them to -teach the apprentices thoroughly).
