Regarding the cul ! iva-tion of the blueberry, in which Dr Tillyard, of the Cawfhro'u Institute, is much interested, an Invercargill resident has three varieties she imported from Amer.ca three years ago. growing splendidly in her garden, giving every indication of a lino crop of fruit. The varieties selected by her were Rebel, Harding and Sam.
Great, interest was taken in the ■li-pes, for the growth of wli eh Southland appears specially adapted.
The lady intends to propagate, plants and start an orchard for commercial purposes. As the fruit is as much appreciated as the strawberry there "’ill he an- assured market.
