FIRES.
JOINERY WORKS DESTROYED. B.t Telegraph I— Press Association. AUCKLAND. January 19. Tho joinery works of J. ,R. Simpson at Groan Lane railway station were totally destroyed by--- fire early th s morning. The, -fire had such a strong hold when discovered that the brigade could do ho more than prevent its .spread to the 1 ' railway hridg® and station. This was successfully accomplished. Simpkson’s main , building was demolished together with contents, also a stack of timber nearby. At tho rear of the building was a heap of sawdust and shavings, and ;it is thought that the fire mav have been caused as a result of this being set alight by a spark from the -engine of a passing trian. The factory and content- were insured with the South British Company for £ISOO.
