Last Friday week an enjoyable evening was spent at the residence of Air and AD’s A. Shirtcliffc, Scddon Street, when the Highfield Ladies’ Literary Club read two humorous plays to an appreciative audience of friends. After tho reading, supper was dispensed b.v the ladies, and a short musical programme, with the singing of Auld Lang Syne, brought ail enjoyable evening to a close. Those who took part in the reading were :—Alesdames Grubb, Buchanan, Shirtcliffc, and Alitcholl, Misses AI. Sutherland, S. AleLcaii, I. Collins, Iv. Sutherland, AI. Turner, P. Bowie, IC.
