KELLEWAY’S RETIREMENT. Australian and Y.Z. Cable Association Bj Cabla—Preas Association—Copjrlffhl SYDNEY, October 8. Kelloway, on his return from England, said he had definitely retired from big cricket. Ho would not again appear in. inter-state matches. Ho would still play grade cricket. He refused to discuss tlio English tour, beyond saying the Australian batting was not roliable, tho fielding was weak, and tho howling lamentably so. Tho two slow howlers, Mailey and Grimmett,, practically carried the team and did all tho work.
GERALDINE CLUB. There were some twenty odd present at the annual meeting of the Geraldine Cricket Club held in Pyne, Gould Guinness’s rooms on 'Thursday evening. Mi- G. N. Fieklcn was elected to the chair. The report and balance sheet, the latter showing debts £26 14s 6d, cask in hand £lO iGs 9d; deficiency £l6 7s 9d, wore read and adopted. ' Two small accounts weiv pasted for payment. ; The election of officers resulted!— Patron, Mr T. D. Burnett,. M.P.; president, Dn. Hislop; . vice-presidents, Captain C. J. Kerr, Messrs, A.. P. Barklie, A. Symmingtou, C. J. McKenzie, F. Piper, J. M. H. Tripp and Morrison; captain, Mr L. W. Grieve; vice-captain, Mr Bennett; secretary and treasurer, Mr L. H. Williams; committee, Messrs L. H. Williams, G. Feildeh, E. Scott,’ B. R. Macdonald, J. H. Peter, F. J. C. Turner; selection committee, captain, vice-captain and Mr B. R. Macdonald; ground committee, Messrs Wordsworth, Peter, F. Turner, A. Glover, D. Oallanan, H. Williams, C. Williams and E. Scott; delegates to South Canterbury Cricket Association, Messrs M. Houlihan and B. R. Macdonald. Wicket night was fixed for Mondajr, practice nights for Tuesdays and Thursdays. Subscriptions were fixed as under: Seniors 30s, reducible to 20s; juniors, 20s, reducible to 12s 6d if paid by December, 1526. Minor arrangements wore made for the forthcoming season, and the meeting ended with a hearty vote of thanks to the chairman, and Messrs Pyne, Geuld, Guinness, for the rooms. The following players have been selected to play in a friendly game at Washdyke to-day. botween teams from the Post and. Te'egraph, Timaru, and the Washdyke Club:— Post and Telegraph.—Applegarth, Boys, Gallagher, Maelaren, Marshall, Morrison, Sigley, Styles, Walker, Wotton, Wright.
