PRIME MINIBTf;R'B SUGGESTION.
By Cable—Press Asaociatlon —Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Asaociatlon (Received October 8, 7.20 p.m.) WASHINGTON, October 7. The Prime Minister of New Zealand (Mr Coates) called on President Coolidge and had an interview with Mr Kellogg (Secretary °f State). A dinner was given in his honour at the British Embassy, by H. G. Chilton (Minister Plenipotentiary) in the absence of the Ambassador (Sir Esme Howard). Mr Coates, in an interview, said immediately upon his arrival in America, he found everywhere the friendliest feelings for New Zealand. American business men not only commented upon the good trade relations already existing with the Dominion but were anxious to be informed of the directions in which they could bo improved. The people of the United States felt that America was linked Up with Britain .through the alliance in the war, and by a bond of common languago and a common basis for legal and political institutions. Mr Coates pointed out concerning trade, that he had informed American business men that New Zealand already brought three times as much from the United States as the latter purchased from New Zealand, and it rather looked as if the next move was up to the United States.
