TROOPS SEIZE HARVEST.
SERIOUS CLASH IN MANCHURIA. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association TOKIO, October 7. The long-standing trouble in Manchuria over Korean occupancy of agricultural lands, is conring to a head along the Halu River, where the Koreans clashed with Chinese troops sent to seize the harvests. Japanese troopa from Port Arthur, Antung and Mukden are arriving on the Beene, prepared to defend the Koreans. Japanese reports state that already clashes have occurred between Japanese and Chinese soldiers, with casualties on both sides.
For many years the Koreans have been crossing into Manchuria, taking up waste land along the border, and were not interfered with until General Chong-Tso-Lin repudiated Section 21 of the demands made by Japan upon China, permitting Japanese to lease land for agricultural purposes. The Koreans are now Japanese subjects, although many of them have been occupying the farms upwards of 20 yearn. Japanese in Manchuria fear the trouble will become serious.
