A telegram from Dunedin recently threw doubt on the announcement made here that two men from the Exhibition Rand had been engaged for Wellington, and claiming tbem as amongst the men wlio had signed on for a Dunedin band. Officials of the Tramways’ Rami here have produced a. signed and .stamped agreement by the two men concerned, engaging to join the Rand for three years, and applications to the North Island Association for permission to take part in the next band, contest. They have been nominated as immigrants, and provision made for their passage money.
