At the wool sales there was a large attendance of Home and Continental buyers. Opening values for all sorts were maintained. Merinos were firm. ! Best scoureds and good carbonising 1 sorts were slow, with a slightly hardonI ing tendency. Greasy combings mot a strong general demand. Crossbreds were- fairly well maintained, thanks to Continental competition, but Yorkshire was inactive. All lambs were vorv firm. Now Zealand clip, “Acland,” brought 20d (top), 19d (average); “Maunga- • roa,” 14id (top), 13Jd (average). The Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. have received the following cable from London under date Ist instant: “AVool sales resumed, i Market weaker for medium greasy crossbred; others are unchanged. Fair demand from the Continent, Home I trade quiet.” TEMUKA STOCK SALE. There was only a medium yarding of all classes of sheep at the iemuka stock sale held on Tuesday. Fats sold at improved rates, but the demand was not so keen for stores. A big yarding of rough beef sold at late rates. Very few' dairy cow's were offered, and good sorts were well sought after. The demand for pigs was not as keen as usual.
