N.Z. LOAN.

SUCCESS IN LONDON

By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association LONDON, May 31. Although the success of the New Zealand loan was generally . expected, tile early closing of the list surprised even the most optimistic. The popularity of the loan was evienced by the long queue awaiting the opening of'tho Bank of England at SI o’clock to obtain application forms. Tliis was reminiscent of tile pre-war boom in mining issues. Applications poured in so fast that the subscription of £6,000,000 was largely exceeded by 11 o’clock when the list closed, though applications from the country will be received tomorrow.

One of the principal causes of the success is the subscription of very large amounts by firms who have already underwritten the loan.
