According to advices from Fairbanks, it is authoritatively s*atod that the Detroiter 3-engino airplane, of the Wilkins Arctic expedition, so far has been unable to carry a fuel load sufficient to fly to and from Point Barrow, 520 miles north of Fairbanks.

The transportation of fuel by airpiano from Fairbanks to Point Barn w has proved impracticable. It is stated that supplies will bo shipped bv steamer through Behring Strait, around the northern tip of Alaska to Point Barrow.

It is stated that this is possible only in summer.
