Mr J. R. Bruce returned to Timaru from Dunedin yesterday. Mr L. Clough was a passenger by yesterday’s early express for the south. Mr R. T. Searles, Levels, left yesterday for Dunedin. Mr A. F. Gibson left Timaru yesterday for Dunedin. Mr J. P. Oakes, of Christchurch, passed through Timaru yesterday by express for Dunedin. „ , Mr J. Galbraith, managing director for John Mill and Co., left Timaru on his return to Dunedin yesterday.; The Hcfn. James Craigie, M.L.C., left Timara on his return to Wellington yesterday. itr Guy Bates Post and company arrived from Dunedin by the second express yesterday. ' They will leave for the north to-day. Mr AV. G. Talbot (secretary of tho AVellington Boxing Association) arrived in Timaru yesterday, in order to see ■the Parker-AVilliams contest to-night. Mr R. O. Duncan came to, .Timaru by ’.the morning express from Christchurch yesterday, and returned north by the afternoon train. Mr R. A.. Bach, who for the past two years has been supervisor of' the Postal .branch at Timaru, will leave in about a fortnight for Dunedin, where lie has been, promoted to superintendent of ,mails., .. Sir Joseph AA r nrd, AI.P., for, Invercargill, passed -through Timaru yesterday on his return south. Sir Joseph, wlio is looking well, says ho is now feeling as well as ever he felt in his life.' '* " . , .1 All' H. D. Bennett, formerly of the Courthouse'staff at Timaru, and. now attached to the Supreme Court at Dunedin, has been spending a few days in Timaru. He left oil his return to Dunedin yesterday. Air G. C. Holder, Mr J, T. Owen, Air AV. G. Schoch, and Mr A. J. Oatley (AA r ellington), who have been on a motor tour of the South Island, reached Timaru on their return journey last- evening, and will leave for Christchurch to-day.
Mr Randolph A. Rose (New Zealand amateur running champion) passed through Timaru by motor yesterday on his way from Christchurch to Dunedin, to take part in the New Zealand championships to be held in that city. Air J. P. Kalaugher, Dominion secretary to tho New Zealand Friesian As- ! sociation, passed through Timara yesterday on his way to Dunedin. He will return to Timaru on Alonday next.
Kalauglier was at one time handicapper to the South Canterbury Caledonian Society.
At the annual conference of the Congregational Union, the following officers were elected : —Chairman elect , Rev. AV. AI. Holland; secretary, Rev. F. lie Lisle; treasurer, Air P. Meadowcroft; registrar, Rev. H. J. Ralph; London Missionary Society secretary, Rev. AAV M. Holland;..Union preacher next year, Rev. D. Gardner.
