Tewfik Ru.shdi liey said he could not forecast the decision of Angora’s Assembly regarding the Mosul situation, which he described as delicute, even critical. He emphasised Turkey’s desire for peace, but Turkey though abhorring war, would if necessary act in the national defence. He said the Turco-Soviet relations were thoso of good ncighbourliriess, the closeness whereof would continue to bo developed in relation to events. RELIEF IN MOSUL. DECISION CAUSES NO SURPRISE. Many houses displayed the Iraq flag. With the prospect of the City remaining permanently Iraq, business J* already improving. The decision caused no great surprise in Bagdad, politicians declaring that the justice of the Iraq claim was obvious. King Feisut is delighted, considering that there will be little difficulty in negotiating a 25-yenf treaty or even longer, provided the dignity of the Iraq nation Is preserved; He prophesies great commercial developments as a result of the security afforded by the Mosul decision, including the possibility of a direct transdesert railway, uniting Bagdad and a Mediterranean port.
