I T ENG A WAT. (From Our Correspondent.) The Tengawai School held their annual'.picnic on Satimlav in iho Geraldine Park, kindly lent for the occasion. A lar'g e party made the journey through everchan gin and pretty scenery, which was very much enjoyed. Young and old did-full justice to the plentiful refreshments supplied by the ladies of the party. The day, which was all too short, was spent in exploring the park and native bush, which are now looking their best. Before leaving for, home, . refresh-ments-were again supplied/when the chairman, on behalf of the committee, took opportunity to present the teacher (Miss Kidd) with a solid feather writing case, suitably inscribed, as a mark of appreciation • °\ £oqcl work well done. ; The cornmittee.wish to thank those who supplied cars for the, run, and also all who in any way assisted in makiiig a success of what was a real picnic in beautiful surroundings. They wish to specially thank the Geraldiiie Borough Council lor their hospitality and the use of their grounds and buildings. • As a visitor to Geraldine forty-five i years ago, and no.w a i-esfclent 'of the misty gorges, comparing then and now 1 can- -appreciate the change, due to: - the; foresight of the progressive citizens of Geraldine. lam sure the attractions as a holiday resort of this up+to-date inland town only require to be better known to be more appreciated by those in search of rest and' beauty, and the courteous town clerk (Mr Ifayes) would be pleased to show visitors round,'and with pardonable pride explain the many objdets 'of interest.
