The general committee ol the New /South Wales ltugby Eootball League, approved several drastic changes m the rules, malting the code more attractive, and tightening up the management. , , , Next season will see clubs almost entirely under amateur control. It has been resolved that in future the general committees or district clubs shall consist of appioximately eighteen office bearers, none or "Horn will be active players, and eigiit mem bers, who may or may not he active players. The lteferees’ Appointment Boaru will consist of five members of the general committee of the head body. Ketcrees will nave no say m appointments. In future the game is to be speeded up by the introduction of new rules, the principal of which w.U refer tu playing the ball and the elimination of delay when the ball is kicked into touch. ... , Only one player on each side will be allowed to stand immediately behind the men playing the balk All others must be behind. , A reserve ball will be held on each touch line. . . , ~ r , A new rule will insist that the tiont vow of the scrum must not consist or more than three men. ’ No injured players will he allowed to be replaced. . Two other recommendations requiiing the approval of the English authorities before they become law, are that after a touch down, the nail shall be brought into play by means of a drop kick from the goal Tme, instead of the twentv-live, and the option of taking the scrum. when a free kick is awarded. The latter is intended to remove the spectacle of a club making a wilful infringement to obtain a scrum as in getting m front of the ball. . None of these matters have vet been referred to Queensland or New /cnInrid, but it is nrobnble they will oe di'onssed bv the Board of Contio . No action-has been taken at present conrerning the visit from New Zealand.
