PLOUGHING MATCH.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of tho Timaru Ploughing Match Committee was held yesterday afternoon. Present —Mr W. Blackwoo (chairman), Messrs A. Gibson, A. Copland, A. Fraser, 1. Hide, W. King, R J. Edgar, W. J. Bassett, M. Maze, E. Nicho’l, P. Porter, A. F- Stocker, and tho hon. secretary (Mr E. CaitTho for tho match was passed, and Messrs A. Mazo and A. Gibson were added to tho committee. Tho chairman said ho thought that members should each take fivo tickets and sell them, or be responsible- to- the secretary for tho 25s if tho tickets were not soid. Mr Porter thought a fixed sum should constitute membership. Mr Bassett thought tho membership should be £l. Mr Edgar said tho finances of the committee were'very sound, and good progress had been made. He- thought tho’chairman's suggestion a good one.
Mr Bassett moved an amendment- to the effect that tho tickets bo distributed amongst members the same as last year. —This was carried. Mr Porter, referring to the boys’ class, said tho shares should bo plain.
Members were of tho opinion that Ibis did not make a great deal of difference to the class. Mr Edgar said be would donate £1 for tho tractor ploughing, for tractors driven by farmers, their sons, or bona fide farm labourers in a farmer’s emnloy: 10s for fccring and 10s for finishing.
