Dr. Telford, Medical Health Officer, reported to-day that there are thirtyfive children suffering from infantile paralysis'in the public hospital, but all of them are getting on very well, and practically all the little patients ultimately will be left without any material .after weakness. This result, Dr. Telford said, must be attributed to -the use of the convalescent serum. From the time' of the outbreak in the Christchurch Health District, which comprises Canterbury and the West Coast, until noon to-day, 214 positive cases %ere reported, and there, wel-e 27 deaths. The restrictions reimposed on the whole of Hokianga County because of infantile paralysis in that area have now been lifted. District Medical Officers have received instructions from the Health Department to close their epidemic books, and to furnish reports before the middle of June. All data will be incorporated in a comprehensive report.
