CAUSE FOR GRAVE ANXIETY. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, May L The following official bulletin, was issued at 11.30 a.m. to-day:— , The Prime Minister’s condition continues to give cause for grave anxiety. At the meeting of the South Canterbury Executive of the Farmers’ Union in Timaru yesterday, on the motion of Mr J. Henderson, seconded by Mr J. Trotter, the following motion was carried: “This meeting of fanners desires to express its sincere sympathy with the Prime Minister in his severe illness; and places on record its appreciation of his services to the Empire.” ■
STATEMENT BY MINISTER.
By Telegraph—P.ess ,ARsoclal I '>n. INVERCARGILL, May 1. Replying to expressions of sympathy the Honi J. G. Coates stated this afternoon that Mr Massey's condition was far from _ satisfactory, ,and that the Prime Minister was much weaker. The Premier, said Mr Coates, had a broad mind and a big heart, and put New Zealand first all the time. • He appreciated their references to Mr Massey as a “true Britisher and a great Imperialist,” and would convey to Mrs Massey their expressions of sympathy.
