CROSS COUNTRY RACE
A meeting of the committee of the I.M.C.A. Amateur Athletic Club was held last evening. Present—Messrs A. N. Oakey (chairman), R. Gray, D. freeman, and E. A. Lee (secretary). The following officials for the cross country race to be run to-night were appointed:—Supervisor Mr A. N. Oakey; judges, Messrs J. V. McKeague, P. B. Eoote. and A. G. Tait; starter, Mr J. O’Leary; starter’s steward, Mr E. G. Chffin; timekeeper, Mr J. O’Leary ; course stewards, Mesrs V. T. Nicholas, C. Postgate, and I Blackwood ; handicapper, Mr E. D. Mcßae; pickets, Messrs C. Coxhead (chief), E. McJlra.'th, T. N. Somerville, L. Webster, H. I. L. Somerville, A. H. ARilcolm, E. Boys, E. Parfoot. It was decided that the pickets should meet at 7.45 p.m. at the Bay Viaduct to be conveyed to their respective corners. It was decided to post pickets at the following points along the route— Corner Main North Road and Waimataitai (Street; corner AVaimataitai Street and Richmond Street; corner of Richmond Street and Eversley Street; coiner of Eversley Street and Climie Terrace ; and corner of Climie Terrace and Richmond Street. The pickets are to be supplied with torches to direct the competitors. The secretary advised that arrangements had been made to h.ave the Bay bathing sheds available from 7.45 to 8.45 p.m. for the use of competitors. It was decided to scratch all competitors not on the mark at 8 p.m. The following handicaps were declared:—T. L. Buxton, scratch: L. Murray, R. Slade 1 minute; H. Autv, A. Jones, P. R. Williams. R. Gray, C. Wintcrburn, R. Hillary. F. Knight, F. White. AV. H. Hoig, 2 minutes; D. Freeman, —. Shelton, ,‘5 minutes.
