CHRISTCHURCH, Nov 19
Nina Alary Lang, 22 years, charged with the theft of £B9 from her employer, was sentenced to a year’s reformative treatment, in addition to the year imposed in . Auckland on a false' pretences charge. The Magistrate said the woman had. a lot of ability, hut did not seem to show any contrition.

At the Police Court, F rederick Henry Bowlev, 41 years, on nine charges of theft, involving £l4, and nine charges of unlawfully assuming the designation of a detective, received two years’ reformative detention.'
DAAIAGES FOR ASSAULT

At the Supreme Court, Clinie James Drake, farmer of Wairanga, was awarded £551 damages against Harry White Eretwell and Thomas Malcolm Fretwell for a cowardly and brutal assault on the Te Kauwhata road on August 21, 1923, for winch the accused' is now serving a sentence of three years’ imprisonment in the Waikeria prison farm.
