On Thursday evening the bachelors of Clandeboye, held their animal ball in the- public hail, which had been pryitdy decorated for the occasion with greenery ancl red, white, and blue streamers, arranged in the form of two immense wheels. These had been skilfully arranged, and in the last dance of the evening were lowered upon the dancers. The grand march, headed by Piper Alex. Brown, was led off by Mr A. Alackie and Aliss Sievwright. The music for the dances was provided by Simes’ Orchestra, consisting of Airs Robinson (piano), Air Simes (violin), and Air McDonald (cornet and effects), while extras were kindly contributed by Aliss Parke, Mr Angus Brown, Mr Alex. Brown, and Air AlcDonald. Air S. Parke and Mr A. Alackie jointly carried out the duties of Ai.C., in their usual capable manner. The chairman of Committee (Air A. Alackie), the secretary (Air A. Goldsman), and their committee are to be heartily congratulated on the great success which attended their efforts.

A most enjoyable bridge party given by Alesdames Rickman, McKay, Oakey and C. S. Young, was held at the Stafford Tea Rooms on Alondav night, in honour of Air and Airs W. Sergeant, who leave shortly for Australia. Those present were: Afr ancl Airs J. Lindsay, Mr and Airs Id. S. Russell, AJr and Mrs W. Thomas, Alv ancl Airs Sumpter, Air and Airs J. Aloody. Air and Airs Oxford, Alesdames E. A. Howden, Scott, H. W. Hall, R. H. Priest, E. D. Mosley, E. Stockwoll, and C. C. Paterson; Misses AI. AVilson, Marshall, I?inJayson, and F. AlcLean; and Messrs M J. Tvmiblev, Scott (3), H. Alarshall, Rickman (2), and C. S. Young. The first prizes were won by All's Dryden and All' Alar,shall, the second by Airs Davidson and Mr Moody, and tho consolation by Airs Russel! and All McKay. Mr McKay, ou behalf of ihoso present "presented Mrs Sergeant with n case of silver leu-spoons with greenstone handles.
