PIPING & DANCING.
DUNEDIN COMPETITIONS. .PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM DUNEDIN, Monday. The annual Championship replug and Dancing Competitions of the Otago Centre of the Piping and Dancing Association of New Zealand began here today. The entries total 052 for the 60 events. Competitors from all over New Zealand are taking part, including practically all the best piping and dancing exponents in the Dominion. Mr A. C. Dickson, of Wellington, a champion piper of a few years ago, is judging the piping, and Air Duncan Mackenzie, Wanganui, the present dancing champion, is judging the dancing. The juvenile sections were judged to-day, the results being as follows: — March Playing for Novice Pipers, any age—Raymond Stratton 1, Neil Munro 2, Edgar P. Lane (Christchurch) 3. Highland Fling, boys under 10 years —Leslie McGregor 1, Ronald Ritchie 2, Grahaine McKinlay 3. Sword Dance, girls under 10—Winifred McPherson (Invercargill) 1, Florence Millar (Gore), 2, Agnes Kleskie 3. Sean Triubhais, boys under 10—Leslie McGregor 1, Ronald Ritchie 2. Irish Jig, girls 10 to 12 years—May Donaldson (Timaru) 1, Dorothy Hall (Timaru) ,2, Mabel Sinclair (Timaru) 3. March Playing for Novice Pipers under 16 years —Neil Munro 1, Raymond Sfcraton 2, Alex. Kane (Milton) 3. Highland Fling, girls under 10 years —Luck Robinson 1, Violet Cameron (Herbert) 2, Norma Douglas (Oamaru) 3- , Sword Dance, boys under 10 years— Leslie McGregor 1, Grahame McKinlay, 2, Ronald Ritchie 3. Sean Triubhais, girls under 10 years— Lucy Robinson T, Winifred McPherson (Invercargill) 2. Irish Jig, boys 10 to 12 years—Percy Lockhart 1, Harold Wilson 2, Eric Gordon 3.
