"EFFETE LAW”
To the Editor of the -Tlmam Herald." Sir,—Your correspondent ‘‘Eduction” in your issue dated 30-&- 28, strikes a true note when hesays. the n thought a tha 0 t m mor|s “Whilst Sunday Schools have a plao® of paramount importance, the great outdoors is God’s noblest temple where finest character may be formed m the adolescent period.” . .. Later, the Rev. J. A. Julius in the “Timaru Herald” dated 2-6- 23, said: “Sunday Schools are doing good work bv instructing our children in divine truths.” Suffer me to add my meed of praise to those unselfish men and women who give up their interests to help to train our young people, who in a few years will be the law-makers or this land. -The laws they will places our Statute Book will be deeply tinged by the examples shown them in early life. Happy the children whose little hands were clasped by a gentle mother, while she said “Gontle Jesus, meek and mild,” or its like. Such a child is not likely to become an investor who loves gilt-edged securities or a moneylender of the “Shylock class,” and his pound of flesh. Nor will he, if he is a worker, demand the short hour, the easy job, and the big shilling. But arrived at ripe manhood, he will have learned that those wishing for a long, happy, and wealthy life, will find it in honest work by hands, or brain, or both. Christ’s Sermon on the Mount covers the whole duty of mankind. —I am, etc., MARK SAUNDERS. 4-6-1923.
