TENNIS.

DAVIES CUP THAW. B v Cable Press Association —Copyright. Received 9.25 p.m., May‘3oth. SYDNEY, May 30. Several thousand spectators attended exhibition matches by the Davies Cup team. Mclnnes (Vic.) defeated Schlesinger (Vic.) 7-5, 6-2. ‘ Hawkes beat Anderson 7-5, 6-2.

In the doubles game Hawkes and Mclnnes v. Anderson and Schlesinger the scores were 6-2, 9-15., 7-7 when bad light caused abandonment of play. Mclnnes, who is only 21 and of distinctly boyish build and ways, greatly impressed the onlookers by his all-round brilliancy and sparkling shots.

Anderson, excepting in isolated instances, could no nothing .right, especially against a strong westerly wind blowing across the court. The doubles seemed certain to end in a win for Hawkes and Mclnnes, but a temporary recovery by Anderson saved the second set after ten sterling games for ascendancy.
