TO AIR AND AIRS L. CARDER. There was a representative gathering from all parts of .the district in the Bluet-Juts Jriall on Tuesday last to bid farewell to Air and Airs L. Cakler and family. ,Air Cakler has acted as manager of the R. H. Rhodes BluecJiffs estate tor the past fifteen years, and the large attendance amply testified to the esteem in which the Caider family are held. The evening took the form of a social and dance, with the many presentations interspersed. Air Collier, who was chairman, made many pleasant remarks as to the good qualities (of their departing guests, whose name had been a household-word in the district for hospitality and kindness’of spirit. Reference was also mad** to Air Calder’s great services, which had been given gratis to all and sundry who had any stock requiring the assistance of a veterinary surgeon. The various speakers enlarged on the fact that no matter what hour of the night Air Cakler had been called on he had never turned them down, and on many occasions when ho had need of vest himself he had gone miles away to give relief to some suffering horse cr stock of any description. In this iespcct alone Blueelifls would, if for no other reason, bo great, losers by his removal from the district.

Air Cox,’ sen., made the presentation to Air Cakler, and Airs McCarthy to Airs Cakler, on bchalt of the Blueclifts residents. Air Colder expressed his sincere thanks, on behalf ’of his wife and family, for the many kind things which had been.said. He hoped that any work he had tried to get going in the district would be carried on as iwiolelieartedly as in the past. He pointed out the absolute necessity of a bridge over the river, and instanced what had happened of late, -when neither the school teacher nor the pupils could cross the river. He thanked them, one and all, from the bottom ot lus heart, and hoped that where he was going he would meet with kind-hearted settlers like lie had done in Blueplitis. The hull was -beautifully decorated with flags, flowers, native shrubs, etc., which transformed it into a vent-able fairyland for the time being. , A-iiss Chisholm, the schoolmistress, pleased the large assemblage so well with her song that they made imperative demands for more, to which sue graciously responded. Ihe music foi the dance was in the capable hands of Miss Henry. Mr R. Morns carried out the duties of AT..C. -in lus usual happy and efficient manner. _ Among the presentations were a gold watch and chain to Air Caider, and the same to Airs Caider, a.wristlet watch to AJaster Jack Caider, a dinner set to the familv, also portmanteau, biiet n'fß a set of cutlerv, set of carvers, and various other articles.
