RUGBY UNION
The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the S.C.R.U. was held in ‘Mr Fraser’s office last evening. Present— —Messrs .H. H. Fraser (chairman), S. H. Sullivan, J. Beri, M. Houlihan, Ji Waddell, Hugh Fraser, J. B. Crowley, V. I. Aspinall, and J. V. McKeague (hon. sec.) A vote of sympathy was passed to the family of the late Mr G-. Steven. It was decided that the Point fourth-grade team forfeit all games in which they played M. Ferguson, who is over the age limit for this grade. The secretary of the Pareora Club attended to explain the action of the club in playing W. Swan and W. Sullivan in their junior team. —The explanation was accepted, as was that of the Star and Celtic Clubs for being late in taking the field on the 19 th inst. It wns decided to play competition games in all grades on June 2nd. It was decided to play. . three founds in the senior competition. The Manawatu Union wrote confirming Sept. 8 as the date for the Manawatu v. South Canterbury game at Timaru. The North Otago Sub-Union wrote asking for a gamt on July 21 at Oamaru, in addition to the match in Timaru.— Agreed to. A letter was received from the Star Club in regard to the game in which its third-grade team was defeated by High School, who since have been classified as junior an—lt was decided that the game be annulted, with the proviso that Star may be required to play School at the end of the season. The Sports Ground Company wrote confirming acceptance of the offer of the Union for the purchase Of the Athletic Grounds.
Messrs H. H. Fraser, J. V. McKeague, and J. Waddell were appointed a sub-committOe to confer with the High School Board re the custody of the grounds.
The referee in the senior game Temulta v. Celtic wrote drawing attention to the objectionable behaviour of a spectator, and asking that steps be taken to prevent a repetition of such conduct.—lt was decided to advise the Temuka Club of the Union’s intention to report all such cases to the police, Mr S. H. Sullivan tendered his resignation as a selector, and it was accepted with regret. Mr E. A. Cockroft was appointed in his place. Mr E, A. Cockroft was nominated for election to the South Island selection committee.
It was decided to charge (Id admission to the grand*stolid and stadium seating at the Athletic Grounds.
