Thousands of agricultural labourers have struck work. The- “. Daily Mail” states that exciting scenes in tlie fields and farmyards mark the strike. Extra police have been drafted to some of the agricultural districts. in one case strikers unharnessed horses from carts and allowed the animals to stray. In other places they gathered round fields, where work was proceeding,. blowing horns and rattling tins to frighten the horses. Intimidation is increasing. The farmers are carrying on with the help of old age pensioners and schoolboys. If the agricultural labourers on strike do not agree to the terms offered, the Norfolk farmers threaten to close down the cultivation of the farms from seed time until harvest, thus reducing cultivation by one-third. They will put the land down in corn, letting the root crops go.— A. and N.Z*. Cable.

RHONDDA MINERS. BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN.—COPYRIGHT (Received 9 p.m., April 2.) London, April 1* Rhondda miners have ordered a strike involving 46,000. The strike will commence to-day, the object being to force all miners in the district to join the Miners’ Federation. It is hoped that the strike will not last more than a week.—A. and N.Z. Gable.
