RUHR SITUATION
CRISIS IS COMING WITHIN SIX WEEKS FRANCE AND WAR ■ CABLE—PIIESS ASSX-~COPYBXGHT-(Received 9.30 p.m., Alarch 8.) London, March 8. The “Westminster Gazette’s” Cologne correspondent says: “My impressions are that the cauldron of the Ruhr might boil over at any time with fearful results in bloodshed.” “France I am told, would not hesitate to declare war and bomb cities, Berlin included, if her forces were attacked. German authorities, therefore, are doing their utmost to check the rising passions of their people. Best informed people are of the opinion that, unless an agreement is soon reached,' it is only a matter of time before another war breaks out. “The French declare that a crisis will occur in six weeks, when it is expected that German resistance will collapse.” • The “Daily Express” says that the Godley-Payot agreement provides that the number of troop trains passing through the Cologne area shall he the same as before the occupation of the Ruhr.—A. and N.Z.
